Setting

The reading literacy circle book, "A Boat to Nowhere" has the setting placed in Vietnam. The story takes place during the Vietnam War, which was probably few decades ago. In Vietnam, the characters live in a quiet, peaceful village, which they don't have much interaction. They also did not have interaction with foreign countries, until they meet a strange boy named Kien whom probably came escaping from another country. I think the setting is very interesting and it's new to me because I do not know much about Vietnam.

yeah i think the same thing about the setting, but the vietnam war wasn't decades ago, and you could know that by the American pilot Jim, and decades ago there wasnt pilots or airplanes.

Nice Job

Lauren,

Thanks for the work you've done so far. Are there any other details you can add to your post about the setting?

Don't forget to add another post this weekend!

Thanks!

Nice, I have the same book as you now. The setting is simple but very generoulsly showed and I liekd how you are brave enough to ask a question in to a blog what you don't understand and make people more read more about the book.

wow your lucky your book is set somewhere else!!vietnam sounds cool!
everyone else has korea as the setting it seems like so there isn't much difference between books. Like my name is keoko and lost names are set around the same time and both are in korea.

My setting is also in a war but it is in a different country. I think you have a good setting where you have one main setting where in my book there are many settings and it is kinda confusing. I think that your setting is very interesting and that the setting makes the book attract other readers. Since you do not know much about Vietnam, this book might help you to learn more about the country. I think I also want to read this book because I do not know anything about Vietnam and I hope I can learn some things.

Your setting is perfect!!
But I don't think Kien escape from another country. I think escape from big city that he was rude to Thay Van Chi.
